Most classes run from:
                  January through April 
Many members arrive in Oct/Nov and leave in April.  The months between allow the Board to replenish/inventory supplies, brainstorm, plan new projects, and generally relax before things pick up again.

New member Class

Date: Class #1 Dec. 10th
Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays
Time: 1:00 pm all classes
       (APPROX. 3 HRS.)
There are 4 classes that run consecutively each month beginning with tooling and ending with belt making & staining.
Follow-up class dates:
  April: 2nd, 4th, 9th, & 11th
December 12th, 14th, 17th, 19th
  • They are held on Tuesdays & Thursdays
  • Classes are run consecutively, building on the skills taught in the previous class.
  • Follow-up classes ( are only for new members.  Otherwise the classes are too crowded.) 
  • Approximate time: 3 hrs
  • Classes build upon each other
  • Bring your New Member Packet
  • You must be a paid member to join these classes 
    • (If you have not joined/paid                please arrive early to complete the process.
    • Cost is $40 and includes: $15 annual dues & $25 for the class & materials.  Payment must be cash or check made out to the SCW Leather Carvers.)

  • Instruction will include:
    • Functions of the clubroom
    • A small hands-on project incorporating the use of the 7 basic tooling tools
    • A presentation of the club website (how to find & navigate the site)
  • FYI:
    • A refrigerator in the clubroom is available for any snacks/drinks/ food you would like to bring.
    • The club provides bottled water and coffee
  • Attendance:
    • If you have not done so, please let Allen know if you are planning on attending. This information is extremely necessary to ensure we not only have the correct number of instructors for individual attention but also enough tools/materials for each participant.​

Painting Class

Come learn how to paint on leather!

Cost: Free
Bring: paint brushes (inexpensive)
If you have a drawing/paint pad, bring that
Afternoon  Learning Sessions: 
 If you wish to teach a prepare and teach a class, afternoons will be set aside for you.
Ideas: Braiding Turk’s Head Knot, Lacing - Double Loop,Staining, Name Tags,
Bracelets/Cuffs, Pyrography, etc.​

          Classes are open to any members who would like to attend.

2024 classes 

During the summer months activities at the club are more laid back, as are we.  Most classes are offered during the Fall/Winter/Spring time.

Tool Sharpening

  • Class will last about 2 1/2 hours  
  • He will demonstrate the basic principles as to how to sharpen our personal tools.  
  • Bring tools that you use to carve and tool your projects including swivel knives, trimmers, edgers, punches, and blades.  In general, any tools you use. Sharp tools enhance our projects as well as making them easier to use.  
  • John would like you to bring any questions also.
